Which families of change management training exist?

Six families exist: QEP courses that prepare the CCMP, method programmes, university certificates, professional-body certificates, accredited exams and open online courses. Each answers a different goal, and paying for a school certificate when you need the 21 QEP hours is an easy mistake to make.

A QEP course is a course that the ACMP has qualified as aligned with its Standard for Change Management©. The ACMP QEP page lists the criteria: documented objectives, adult learning methods, qualified instructors and accurate advertising. Everything below was read on the official pages of each provider on 7 October 2026, in the currency each one uses. Which course prepares the CCMP best: Leanova, jTask or Acuity?

If the goal is the CCMP, a 21-hour course with an instructor component is the practical route, since the ACMP asks for 21 hours of training aligned with its Standard within the past seven years.

Leanova’s CCMP® Certification Exam Prep has 45 modules, one year of access and English with subtitles, at US$595 on 7 October 2026 (list price US$995). The live online edition runs over three days, 8:30 to 17:00 Eastern Time, at US$795, and is also available in French and Spanish. Leanova is listed as a QEP, with course codes Q000607 and following. The Trustpilot score was 4.7 out of 5 from 39 reviews that day, and a 14-day money-back guarantee applies.

jTask lists a virtual CCMP course of 24 hours, 21 of them instruction, at USD 980, or USD 880 with a code; ACMP exam fees are extra. The Acuity Institute sells a package at US$799 over three months with an exam and 30 PDUs, and states that it covers the 21 hours. We could not verify an offer from Profound Performance or Change Management Review on 7 October 2026, so we do not describe their courses. Method programmes, university and professional-body certificates

These programmes teach a method or a broad foundation; they cost more than QEP courses and lead to a vendor or school certificate, not to the CCMP.

Prosci’s programme lasts three days, about eight hours a day online, and includes a workbook, a 90-day Prosci membership trial and PDUs for the ACMP, the PMI and HRCI. Prerequisites and renewal were not published. Kotter Change Certified follows six courses; the online Foundations of Change is US$1,100 and Leading Change in the Era of AI is US$595, with 12 months to complete the path, and the full online price is not published. eCornell’s certificate takes three months at US$3,900. The ATD certificate is 14 hours and counts as 14 ACMP instructional hours.

APMG International is different: it runs Foundation and Practitioner exams, and training comes through Accredited Training Organisations. The Knowledge Academy lists the APMG Foundation and Practitioner course at £3,795 over five days. For a first look at the field without a large outlay, the Coursera course from Macquarie University is 20 hours and had a 4.7 out of 5 rating from 1,709 reviews on 7 October 2026. The Center for Creative Leadership has no change management certification; its Leading Change Workshop Facilitator Course costs US$1,800.

How to choose: goal, method, team size and budget

Choose by goal first: the CCMP calls for 21 hours of aligned training, most simply a QEP course, a method calls for the vendor’s programme, and a team calls for a licence or a private cohort.

For the credential on a limited budget, a self-paced QEP course is where we would start, and change management training under US$1,000 lists the options. For a team, Leanova’s private cohort for up to 10 people is US$7,950, and its corporate licences carry 20 % off for 5 to 10 participants, 30 % for 11 to 20 and 40 % above 20, with 12 months of access in English and French (prices of 7 October 2026). A method programme and a QEP course can be taken one after the other. The first gives you a toolbox your employer may already use; the second documents the 21 hours for the CCMP application, and the order is yours to choose.

One practical check before buying anything: look at the language of the materials and of the exam. The ACMP does not publish the CCMP exam languages and says standard English keyboards only, so ask the ACMP in which language you can sit it before paying for a course in another language. Leanova’s French corporate course and its Spanish CCMP course exist for that first purpose, and the self-paced course is in English with subtitles.

Which change management certification programmes exist?

Can I earn a change management certification entirely online?

Yes. The CCMP exam is taken online with Kryterion proctoring, and the 21 required hours can come from an online QEP course, self-paced or live, as long as an instructor is involved. Leanova Academy’s 21-hour course exists in both formats (US$595 and US$795 on 7 October 2026). APMG exams are also available with online proctoring.
