Does a self-paced course count toward the CCMP’s 21 hours?

It does when the course is an ACMP Qualified Education Provider™ (QEP™) course, because the ACMP pre-qualifies those. The ACMP training FAQ requires that an instructor be present, in a classroom or online, and accepts blended formats that combine self-study with instructor-led portions.

A course outside the QEP register can still be submitted. The ACMP then asks for the objectives, the outline, the dates, the duration and the portion led by an instructor, documented in English. That is extra paperwork, and the outcome is less predictable than with a pre-qualified course. For the CCMP we would start from the QEP programme, whose public registry can be searched by hours, language, price range and provider.

The training must also fall within the seven years before the application. A self-paced course taken today is therefore valid for a long time, which is one reason people buy it early and apply later. Our article on self-paced versus live change management training compares the two formats in more depth.

Self-paced courses on 7 October 2026 and what they cost

We found seven online offers with a published price and duration, most of them self-paced, from US$195 for a Leanova LCeX-Essentials course to a US$3,900 university certificate (Coursera is priced by subscription). The table lists them in the currency and the terms shown on each provider’s page on 7 October 2026. This site follows Leanova Academy, so its courses appear first; the others are described only with what their own pages state.

Acuity states that its package covers the 21 hours for the CCMP; we have not seen its status in the QEP registry, so check it there before you pay. The Management and Strategy Institute title is a self-study credential of its own, awarded by that institute, and it is not the ACMP’s CCMP.

The self-paced course that fits a CCMP candidate

A CCMP candidate needs 21 hours of Standard-aligned training, so the QEP course of exactly that length is the direct choice. The Leanova CCMP Certification Exam Prep is one: US$595 on 7 October 2026, 45 modules, one year of access and a 14-day money-back guarantee. Leanova’s Trustpilot score is 4.7 out of 5 from 39 reviews on the same day. It is a training provider, and the exam, with its own fees, stays with the ACMP.

The Acuity package costs US$799 with three months of access and an exam included. The eCornell certificate, at US$3,900, is a university programme of six courses over three months, with three to five hours of study a week. Both can be good purchases for their own purpose, but only one question matters here: does the course count as the 21 hours, and can you prove it?

Self-paced courses for the MCMP and AI skills

For the MCMP, the ACMP asks on 7 October 2026 for 10 hours of change management training different from the CCMP training, among other conditions listed on its MCMP page. A 10-hour QEP course covers that item. The Leanova MCMP AI Change Management Course is a self-paced 10-hour QEP course at US$395 with one year of access.

The same site also runs the LCeX™ AI pathway, three steps of 5, 8 and 10 QEP hours priced at US$195, then +US$295 and +US$395. The structure is explained on the LCeX pathway page. These courses issue LCeX badges and certificates of completion, and they count as training hours, not as an ACMP credential. If you are weighing the AI side specifically, we keep that comparison in our section on AI change management.

Coursera’s Macquarie University course suits a manager who wants a university-backed introduction of 20 hours without a credential goal. Its price depends on the Coursera Plus plan, so the effective cost falls if you finish quickly.

Leanova also lists the LCeX-Professional™ course, a self-paced 21-hour QEP course (code Q000607) at US$595 with no prerequisite, 45 modules and a certificate of completion plus a digital badge. Its Global Access programme reduces prices by 30 % for eligible countries, which brings that course to US$415 as published on 7 October 2026. Organisations buying five or more licences get 20 % to 40 % off, depending on the group size, with 12 months of access. According to the course syllabus (May 2026 edition), access to the Leanova course runs for 12 months, and separate self-paced versions with AI-generated audio and subtitles exist in eight languages (French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi and Japanese), while the slides, quizzes and exam stay in English. Support is by e-mail, with replies within 24 to 48 hours.

What to check before buying any self-paced course

Check five things before paying: the QEP status, the hours, the access period, the language of the materials and the refund terms. Each can be verified in a few minutes on the provider’s page or in the registry, and a low price tells you none of them.

  • QEP status and hours, searched by provider in the ACMP registry.
  • Access period: one year at Leanova, three months at Acuity, a three-month programme at eCornell, lifetime at the Management and Strategy Institute.
  • Language: the Leanova CCMP course is in English with subtitles, the ACMP does not publish the exam languages, and the exam accepts standard English keyboards only.
  • Refund terms: Leanova states 14 days; for the others, read the checkout page.
  • What is included: exam vouchers, practice questions, a certificate.
