MCMP certification: application from US$655, if you hold an active CCMP
Sommaire6 sections
What does the MCMP require on 7 October 2026?
The MCMP requires an active CCMP, 8,400 hours of experience, 10 hours of new training and 6 hours of mentorship as a mentor (ACMP MCMP page, read on 7 October 2026). All of it must fall within the 10 years before you apply, and the mentorship must be Standard-aligned.
The credential sits above the CCMP and is valid only while the CCMP is. If the CCMP expires, the MCMP expires with it, so a lapsed first credential cancels the second one. We place the MCMP in the wider progression in the practitioner track from CCMP to MCMP.
The 10 training hours: why they must differ from the CCMP training
The 10 hours must be change management training different from the training you submitted for the CCMP, so the 21 hours of your first application cannot be counted twice.
That rule shapes the choice of course. A candidate who took a 21-hour QEP course for the CCMP needs a separate course for the MCMP, ideally one pitched at practitioners with several years behind them. Leanova Academy, an official ACMP QEP and the provider this site follows, sells a 10-hour course for this purpose, the MCMP AI Change Management Course (QEP code Q000655). On 7 October 2026 the self-paced version cost US$395 (list price US$665), came with one year of access and ran in English with subtitles. You can read the details on the 10-hour self-paced MCMP course page. It is the same QEP course as LCeX-Master: the ACMP registry titles it “For MCMP™ Candidates Advancing Toward Global Distinction (10-Hour): Master (LCeX-M™)” and lists two settings, Self-Paced/Blended and Live Online. It has 22 deliverables from the NovaLocal Bank simulation and ends with a certificate plus the post-nominal LCeX-M™ (seen on 7 October 2026).
The live version costs US$995 (list price US$1,495) and the dates are given on request, as shown on the live MCMP course page. Leanova also keeps an overview of its Master-level preparation if you want the whole picture before choosing.
How do the 6 mentorship hours work?
You must have mentored others for at least 6 hours, and the mentoring must be aligned with the Standard, with you in the role of mentor. The ACMP page read on 7 October 2026 gives that figure and nothing further about format.
In practice we would expect candidates to arrange these hours with a junior colleague or a CCMP candidate, and to keep a simple log with dates, topics and duration. That is our suggestion, not an ACMP instruction. Write down what was covered against the Standard’s process groups while it is fresh, because reconstructing a year of conversations later is slow.
A fictional example: Nadia, a change lead at an invented logistics company, mentors two colleagues preparing for the CCMP. She meets each of them for an hour every fortnight for a quarter, and she notes each session in a shared sheet. By the end she holds well over 6 hours of dated entries.
MCMP fees, validity and renewal
The MCMP costs US$655 for ACMP members and US$855 for non-members, and it is valid for three years (ACMP MCMP page, 7 October 2026). Renewal requires 15 PDUs, of which 6 must be in mentorship.
The CCMP itself renews every three years with 60 PDUs and a fee of US$100 for members or US$150 for non-members, as the ACMP renewal page states. Our guide to CCMP renewal and PDUs explains where to find them, including the QEP courses that count.
| Item | Member | Non-member |
|---|---|---|
| MCMP application (7 October 2026) | US$655 | US$855 |
| CCMP renewal fee | US$100 | US$150 |
| MCMP renewal | 15 PDUs, including 6 in mentorship | |
From CCMP to MCMP: a sequence of steps
Start with the date of your CCMP and work forward, because the ten-year window and the CCMP validity both run on a calendar. A sensible order is below, and it reflects our own habits rather than an ACMP procedure.
- Check that your CCMP is active and note its expiry date.
- Add up your experience hours against the 8,400 required, with dates and employers.
- Choose the 10-hour course and make sure its content differs from your CCMP training.
- Start the mentoring log and keep it current from the first session.
- Read the ACMP MCMP page again on the day you apply and pay the fee shown there.
Most people take the course late in this sequence because the mentoring takes calendar time, not study time. If you are three or more years past your CCMP, the 8,400 hours are usually the item to check first. For a candidate with a steady practice, a quarter of fortnightly mentoring sessions is a realistic way to reach 6 hours, as in Nadia’s fictional case above.
Whether the MCMP is worth the extra cost depends on your role. For heads of change functions and senior practitioners who mentor others anyway, the credential records work they already do. For a practitioner still building experience, a second year of CCMP practice is probably the better use of the budget. We found no ACMP figures on salary or demand for the MCMP, so we do not quote any. Ask your own employer or clients what weight they give it before you pay.
One more practical point: keep your PDU records from the start. Fifteen PDUs, six of them in mentorship, are easier to gather as you go than in the last month before renewal, and the mentoring log you start now doubles as the first entries.
The MCMP exam: format and languages unpublished on 7 October 2026
The ACMP has not published the MCMP exam format or its languages, so we cannot give a question count, a duration or a pass mark. The only statements we can source are on the MCMP page read on 7 October 2026.
Treat any course that advertises an MCMP pass rate with caution, because the ACMP publishes none. Look instead at what the 10-hour course covers and whether it is a QEP. For career context, including how the MCMP fits with senior change roles, see the change manager career path. Check the ACMP page again before you apply, because requirements and fees change.
